Joanie Caron - Head Coach

​

Joanie is a former Olympic Cyclist who has competed professionally for over 10 years on the road, both in the US and in Europe. She is one of the few professional athletes who competed internationally in all three disciplines - road, track, and cyclo-cross - but specialized as a road sprinter.

​

In addition to her racing career, Joanie has a Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology where she studied VO2 and HR Kinetics. She has been helping cyclist of all levels, from beginners to National Champions in various settings, from one-on-one support to managing and creating her own high-end cycling studio in the fall of 2020. Her goal is to create tools using science and experience to help cyclists reaching their goals.

Andrea McDonald

 

Coach Andrea is an avid road cyclist, indoor cycling coach, NCCP Certified Ride Leader and functional nutritionist. Andrea brings to the Altius team her contagious enthusiasm for all things health and wellness and helping clients reach their individual goals. She thrives on instilling confidence in riders of all abilities — from those clipping in to improve their cardiovascular fitness, to those clipping in to compete.

Over the past decade Andrea has competed in numerous Gran Fondos and has had the opportunity to sample the rich cultures of Spain, Italy and Croatia on two wheels. Her most rewarding cycling experiences have been team challenges to raise much-needed funds for community-based programs, including events for the BC Cancer Foundation and Coast Mental Health.

Grace Menning

 

Coach Grace is an NCCP Certified Coach, has an Exercise Science background and years of experience as a Recreations Racare, Coach, Trainer and Wellness Consultant. As a Master's Athlete, she believes that a solid training framework, balanced program and a healthy mindset has helped her achieve dozens of age groups podium finishes in events like the Xterra worlds, BC Bike Race and Whistler Granfondo. Grace is also a member of Cycling BC's Coach Developer Team.

Solveig Stoebe

 

Coach Solveig is a competitive road racer, ranking in the top three in two Canadian National Masters Championships and the first woman overall of the RBC Gran Fondo Whistler and podium at the 2021 Provincials. Since moving to B.C. in 2016 she began her journey as a cycling coach, passionate about sharing the amazing physical and mental benefits of cycling with kids and adults. In 2019 Solveig rode across Canada to help raise funds for the Canadian Mental Health Association.
